An original textile art piece, the Tree of Peace wallhanging is a stunning depiction of an olive tree at sunrise. This unique piece was created in celebration of Advent, with the rising sun and the olive tree representing the 3rd and 5th days of the O Antiphons, a devotional traditionally used during the advent season.
Measuring 22.5' x 26', this wallhanging is made with hand dyed cotton/rayon and created fabrics, batiks, metallic foil/iridescent fabric, and batting. The techniques used include hand dying fabrics, fabric collage, confetti quilting, mixed media fabric creation, and free motion quilting.
The inspiration for this piece comes from Psalm 52:8, 'But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God.' Jesus Christ, the Messiah, is the root of Jesse, or the root of the cultivated olive tree. From Him, the Church draws its life and peace.
